Do as I say AND as I Do: Using Nearpod for PD

Presenter: Matthew Nickerson

Level: All
Strand: All Means All

Room: C220
Session: 3

Description:
It’s all too common for educators to sit through PD sessions that conform to “Do as I say, not as I do” - PD is predominantly in a lecture format, with maybe a Think-Pair-Share or Gallery Walk.  This leads to, at best, missed opportunities to model instruction we hope to see in the classroom, or worse, accusations of hypocrisy and heightened sense among teachers that those of us no longer in the classroom everyday “don’t get it”.  The same tools we advocate for teachers to engage students with also engage teachers.  Quality PD should look like quality teaching (NEA, 2013).
